NASHUA, NH -- Lesley's hot streak and 2011 season came to an end simultaneously, as Daniel Webster handed the Lynx a 3-0 loss in NECC Playoff First Round action Tuesday night at Mario Vagge Gymnasium.

An inspired Lynx club that won five of its last six games, and not only secured a playoff spot but took the No. 5 seed, was forced into its worst hitting performance in over a month by an efficient Eagles team that hit .189 compared to Lesley's -.053 effort. Daniel Webster speeded out to hot starts in the first two sets and broke open a close third set with a late run in advancing to the NECC Semifinals and closing out 2011 for the Lynx.

NECC Rookie of the Week Danielle Johnson knocked a team-high seven kills, coming at the expense of 12 errors, and added eight digs. Junior Megan Ortwein led all players with 13 digs, and senior Kayla Henry totaled six kills, six digs and a team-best .111 hitting percentage in her final match as a Lynx.

The Eagles sailed out to a 9-2 lead compliments of four of Chelsea Crawford's match-high nine kills, forcing an early Lynx timeout. A bad set followed by three straight Daniel Webster errors led to an Eagles timeout with the Lynx back within five, at 17-22, but three Samantha Hill kills out of the break closed out a 25-20 DWC victory.

Four attack errors doomed the Lynx in the early going of the middle set, this time forcing head coach Tricia Lawler to call a timeout trailing 3-7. Three kills in a matter of four points from Henry cut the Eagles lead to 22-18, but this time it was the Lynx with three consecutive late attack errors, which sealed Daniel Webster's 25-18 win. 

Having fought back from an 0-2 deficit as recently as Sunday in the Lynx senior day win over Newbury, Lesley opened up an 8-7 lead after a Kaitlyn Miller kill and an Eagles error. A 7-2 Daniel Webster run followed that found the home team ahead 15-10. The Lynx couldn't cut the margin to fewer than four the remainder of the way, as the Eagles prevailed, 25-15.

Daniel Webster moves on to face top-seeded Southern Vermont on Friday.

Lesley wraps up its season at 9-16 after going 4-4 in NECC play.
