Ortwein, Johnson, Lynx drown Bucs in three

BUZZARDS BAY, MA -- For a second straight night, Lesley's Megan Ortwein led all players in kills, this time with nine, as the suddenly hot Lynx won their third straight, 3-0 (25-13, 25-7 and 25-11) at Mass Maritime at the Clean Harbors Athletic Center.

The junior threw down nine kills with only three errors on 12 attempts for a match-best .500 hitting percentage, adding 11 digs and a pair of service aces as the Lynx won for a fourth time in five matches.

Freshman Danielle Johnson added seven kills and 14 digs, junior setter Kaitlyn Miller led all players with 17 assists and six service aces, and freshman Rachel Frederickson posted a match-best 20 digs as the Lynx upped their record to 8-15.

For the host Buccaneers, freshman Kelsey Pelletier notched four kills, four digs and two service aces.  Fellow freshman Deb Langley added seven digs and six set assists as Mass Maritime fell short of its first win of 2011.

Mass Maritime travels to Rivier for a non-league tri-match with the Raiders and Westfield State on Saturday.  

The Lynx with celebrate Senior Day, honoring fourth-year co-captain Kayla Henry in a ceremony after Sunday's noon tilt with second place Newbury in New England Collegiate Conference action in Cambridge. A free fan shuttle will be open to the Lesley community for the Senior Day match, with the shuttle beginning at 11 a.m. Sunday and picking up continuously at the corner of Mellen and Mass Ave. The fan shuttle will run to BB&N and back until noon.
