CAMBRIDGE, MA -- Despite a valiant effort from the Lynx in the third set, visiting Southern Vermont was able to take only three games in securing its 16th straight win Wednesday night, 3-0, over Lesley in New England Collegiate Conference women's volleyball play.

The Mountaineers (25-2, 5-0 NECC) were led by Alicia Manzo (Clovis, CA/Fresno City College), who was errorless in 18 kill attempts, 10 of which went down for kills for a match-best .556 hitting percentage. Jessica Alvarez (Eagle Rock, CA/Glendale CC) led all players with eight service aces, seven of which helped bust open the middle set, and Danielle Healis (San Diego, CA/Santa Rosa CC) added 11 kills on 17 attempts for a .412 hitting percentage as Southern Vermont won its 16th match in a row.

For the Lynx, (4-14, 1-4 NECC), freshman Danielle Johnson (Waterford, CT/Waterford) tied Healis for match-high honors with 11 kills, Aishah Jenkins (New Haven, CT/Hopkins) led all players with two solo blocks and Kaitlyn Miller (Leeport, PA/Schuylkill) added 15 assists as the Lynx dropped to 2-6 at home.

Lesley held early leads in the opening moments of the first two sets, but a 10-3 Mountaineers run in Game 1 broke open the opener, a 25-15 SVC victors, and a 14-0 run with Alvarez at serve put any questions to rest in the middle set in the visitors 25-11 win.

A trio of Johnson kills put Lesley out to a 5-1 lead in Game 3, when the Lynx attempted to become the first team in the last 33 sets to take a point from Josh Stokes' club. Johnson's fourth kill of the set, followed by a Healis attack error, found the Lynx ahead 8-6.

An 11-3 run capped by a pair of Hershey Canta (Bataan, Philippines/Glendale CC) service aces opened up a 17-11 lead for the visitors, and the 25-2 Mountaineers held on for the 25-20 win.

Canta led all players with 31 assists, adding eight digs.

The Mountaineers return to play on Saturday against Mitchell, while the Lynx travel to Becker for a tri-match hosted by the Hawks.
