Lynx take opening set, but fall 3-1 at Daniel Webster

NASHUA, NH -- Lesley won the opening set, 25-20, but the Eagles responded with three straight wins over the visiting Lynx Tuesday night in New England Collegiate Conference women's volleyball play.

An upset-minded Lesley squad came out swinging, hitting a combined .588 as a team in drilling 10 kills with zero errors in its Game 1 win. The Lynx jumped out to a 4-0 lead behind three straight service aces from junior Kaitlyn Miller, and two straight aces from freshman Alyson Finbow opened up an 11-5 lead.

A kill from NECC Freshman of the Week Danielle Johnson and an Eagles error closed out Lesley's 25-20 win, but Lesley couldn't keep its hot hand in the remaining three sets. Daniel Webster opened up a 10-4 lead in Game 2, and the Lynx hit only .087 in the frame, which would be the team's best percentage the rest of the night. The Eagles again stormed out to 10-4 leads in the final two sets in fending off the visitors and improving to 3-0 in the NECC.

For Lesley, now 4-11 and 1-2 in conference, Johnson continued her strong play with nine kills on 25 attempts, and fellow freshman Rachel Frederickson led all players with 15 digs. Miller totaled 20 assists and five service aces.

Daniel Webster's Chelsey Crawford sent home a match-best 13 kills, and Samantha Hill led all players with a .421 hitting percentage, adding 10 kills.

Lesley returns to play on Thursday in non-conference play at home against Lasell at 7:30 p.m.
