Blue Jays soar in 3-0 win over Lynx

WEST HARTFORD, CT -- St. Joseph sent home 22 kills to nine errors and got 10 service aces over three sets in its 3-0 (25-19, 25-16, 25-18) win over visiting Lesley Tuesday night.

For the Lynx, junior Megan Ortwein led all players with 10 digs, while Rachel Frederickson followed with nine. 

St. Joseph's Jessica Patrizi led the way for the Blue Jays with 11 assists and nine digs, while Maria DiPinto threw in four kills with one error on 11 attempts for a .273 hitting percentage. 

As a team, Lesley had only one more kill (21) than it did attack errors, good for just a .011 hitting percentage. Ortwein was the most efficient at the net, leading the team with five kills and a .077 hitting percentage, while Danielle Johnson tied her for the team lead with five kills over 28 attempts.

Lesley's Kaitlyn Miller chipped in with a team-high six assists, five digs and the team's only block as the Lynx fell to 2-5 on the season.

With the win, the Blue Jays improved to 3-7.

Lesley returns to play on Thursday night, playing host to St. Joseph's of Maine at 7:30 p.m.
