Lynx spike the Vikings, 3-0 over Salem State

SALEM, MA -- Lesley evened its record at 2-2 with a 3-0 win over Salem State University Thursday night at James Twohig Gymnasium.

Junior Megan Ortwein and freshman Danielle Johnson tied for team-high honors of seven kills, Ortwein doing so with only one error. Freshman Rachel Frederickson led all players with 17 digs as the Lesley returned to .500 on the season.

Tricia Lawler's club cruised to 25-18 and 25-19 victories in the first two sets, respectively, before holding on for a 26-24 win in the third and final game.

In addition to Johnson and Frederickson, fellow first-years Aishah Jenkins and Alyson Finbow turned in strong outings, each totaling three solo blocks.

For Vikings, Rachel Murphy recorded 10 kills and four digs.

With the win, the Lynx improve to 2-1 away from Cambridge on the year.

Lesley competes next in a tri-match held at Pine Manor this Saturday, taking on the host Gators at 11:00 a.m. follow by Wentworth at 1:00 p.m. Salem State will host Suffolk University on Tuesday September 20 at the Twohig at 7:00 p.m.
