Streaking Lynx sweep Salem State tri-match

SALEM, MA -- Lesley improved to 12-7 with a pair of victories at the Salem State tri-match on Saturday, defeating the host Vikings 3-0 and then topping MCLA 3-2.

The Lynx won their fourth and fifth matches in a row, coming out on top on a day in which close games would be the theme. Six of Lesley's eight sets were decided by five or fewer points, as the Lynx beat Salem State 25-23, 26-24, 25-14 and came back to top MCLA 25-21, 23-25, 21-25, 25-18 and 15-10.

In the sweep over the Vikings, sophomore Amanda McCracken totaled 18 kills on 25 attempts, adding seven blocks on the defensive side. Megan Ortwein threw down nine kills over 16 attempts, and Kaitlyn Wechsler chipped in with five kills and three solo blocks. Kate Miller, meanwhile, set the table with 37 assists.

McCracken's streak of dominance continued against the Trailblazers, as the middle hitter got up for 31 kills and only three errors in 53 attempts, adding five blocks in as many games. Wechsler was next in line with 10 kills, and Ortwein and senior Meaghan Chadwick chipped in with seven each, made possible by Miller's 47 assists.

On its second five-match winning streak of the season and victors of 12 out of 14, Lesley now resumes New England Collegiate Conference play. The Lynx return home to take on Newbury on Wednesday night at 7:30.
