First-place Lynx upend Gators, 3-1

CHESTNUT HILL, MA -- Lesley improved to 9-7 on the season with a 3-1 non-conference victory at Pine Manor Tuesday evening.

Amanda McCracken led the Lynx with 14 kills to only two errors on 25 attempts, adding five digs, two solo blocks and a block assist defensively. Megan Ortwein threw down nine kills with only two errors over 19 attempts, chipping in with a team-best six digs and a solo block on the defensive end.

After Lesley coasted to a 25-17 win in the opening set, the Gators answered with a nine-point victory, 25-16, in Game 2. TJ Hajjar's club responded, though, taking the final two sets 25-17 and 25-15, respectively.

With classmates McCracken and Ortwein controling the net, fellow sophomore Kaitlyn Miller again played the role of distrubutor, handing out 29 assists to compliment a team-high four service aces.

Having secured the team's third consecutive road win and fourth in five matches overall, Lesley matches its high-water mark of two games over .500 at 9-7 on the season, improving to 5-5 away from home. The Lynx return to Cambridge, playing host to Anna Maria College on Thursday night at 7:30.
