Lynx sweep Bay Path tri-match, top Wildcats, Mitchell

HOLYOKE, MA -- Reigning New England Collegiate Conference Player of the Week Amanda McCracken continued her commanding play at the net, lifting Lesley to a pair of NECC victories to open league play and sole possession of first place.

The sophomore threw down 18 kills to only one error in the Lynx 3-0 (25-15, 25-21, 25-14) victory over host Bay Path and 21 more kills with no errors in her team's 3-1 (23-25, 25-20, 25-22, 25-14) victory over Mitchell.

Megan Ortwein added 10 kills and four serve aces for the Lynx. Kaitlyn Miller led all players with 33 set assists for Lesley, which dominated the net to the tune of a 42-17 advantage in kills.

"We played great today," said head coach TJ Hajjar. "We played with a lot of heart."

Defensively, Meaghan Chadwick led all players with 12 digs.

The Lynx got on the right side of .500 in their 3-1 win over Mitchell. McCracken's 21 kills were again a match-high. Chadwick chipped in with 13 kills and Ortwein added nine, all possible largely due to Miller's 50 assists. As a team, Mitchell managed only 33 assists, 26 from Jennifer Bordonaro.

On the defensive side, Caitlin Vandenburgh anchored Lesley with a match-best 14 digs. Miller added nine and freshman Jamie Rosenburg scooped up seven more, as Hajjar's club improved to 7-6, getting above the .500 mark for the first time since its season-opening win over Maine-Machias on September 4.

In first place in the NECC as the league's only 2-0 team, Lesley breaks for a six-match string of non-conference matches starting Tuesday evening against Emmanuel at 7:30.
