NASHUA, N.H. - Lesley University faced off against Newbury College in the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Semifinals on Saturday afternoon, but the Lynx fell 3-1 (25-20, 23-25, 25-23, 25-19) to the Nighthawks ending their quest for back-to-back conference championships.

2009 NECC Player of the Year Lindsey Marek (KILLINGWORTH, Conn./Haddam-Killingworth) and NECC First Team All-Conference Amanda McCracken (ELDERSBURG, Md./Liberty) each had a team-high 12 kills in the match.

Marek was also named to the All-Tournament Team.

Freshman Megan Ortwein (SHANGHAI, China/Shanghai American School) added seven kills and 10 digs in the loss.  Kaitlyn Wechsler (MERRICK, N.Y./Our Lady of Mercy) had six kills and 10 digs of her own.

Newbury advanced into the conference championship to face Daniel Webster College, who had earlier defeated Elms College in the other semifinal.  The Nighthawks and Eagles battled through five-sets with Daniel Webster erasing a two-set deficit and completing a dramatic come-from-behind victory.  Daniel Webster won 3-2 (15-25, 21-15, 25-22, 25-19, 16-14) and won their first ever conference championship in women's volleyball history.

Lesley ended their 2009 season with a 14-13 (5-3 NECC) record.
