Women's volleyball to host quarterfinal match

ATTLEBORO, Mass.--Daniel Webster College has claimed the top seed in the 2009 New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Women’s Volleyball Championship, which begins with quarterfinal matchups on campus sites Wednesday night at 7:00 p.m. The Eagles (14-6 overall) earned the top spot in the upcoming NECC tournament after posting a perfect 7-0 conference record.

Newbury College (12-19 overall) earned the #2 seed with a 6-1 conference record. Both the Eagles and Nighthawks earned byes in the quarterfinal round.

The Lesley University Lynx (13-12 overall) earned the #3 seed going 5-2 during their 2009 conference campaign, while the Elms College Blazers (8-19 overall) finished with a 4-3 conference record taking the #4 seed.

Rounding out the tournament bracket are the #5 and #6 seeds with the Mitchell College Mariners (7-10 overall) concluding conference play with a 3-4 record and the Becker College Hawks (9-18 overall) grabbing the final spot,  finishing 2-5 in the NECC.

On Wednesday, November 4, #3 Lesley will host #6 Becker in Cambridge, Mass. at 7:00 p.m., while #4 Elms will host #5 Mitchell at a 7:00 p.m. start time in Chicopee, Mass.

The winners of these quarterfinal matches will advance to the semifinals at Daniel Webster’s campus for semifinals.

As the #1 seed Daniel Webster will host the semifinals and the championship match in Nashua, N.H. on Saturday, November 7. Game times and match-ups are listed below in the bracket format. All published times are subject to change.
