Lynx wrap up conference play with tri-match split

CHICOPEE, Mass. - The Lesley University women's volleyball team competed in a tri-match with New England Collegiate Conference opponents Elms College and Southern Vermont College and walked away with a split.  The Lynx lost to the Blazers 3-1 (18-25, 25-21, 27-25, 25-21) and defeated the Mountaineers 3-0 (25-11, 25-7, 25-10).

Match One vs. Elms College

Lesley were led by Lindsey Marek (Killingworth, Conn.) and Kelly Harrington (Toledo, Ohio) who both tallied 10 kills in the loss.

Gianna Spaziante (Hawthorne, N.Y.) showed why she is one of the best setters in the conference as she compiled 31 assists and also chipped in with 15 digs and five aces.  Harrington and Hanna Sakamoto (Tokyo, Japan) were the only other Lynx players to get double-digit digs as they contributed 11 and 12, respectively.

Errors were an issue for the Lynx as they totaled 30 attack errors and 18 service errors for the match.

Match Two vs. Southern Vermont College

The Lynx looked much more efficient in their second match of the day as Marek and Sakamoto led the team with seven and five kills each.

Lesley's serving was on as Marek and Harrington tied for the team-high of six service aces in the match.

Spaziante was effective once again as she added 18 more assists to her tri-match total.

Lesley finished the day with a 7-10 (5-2 NECC) record with one match left to play.  The Lynx will host Anna Maria College on Monday night starting at 7:30 pm for Senior Night.
