BOSTON, Mass. - The Lesley University women's volleyball squad was forced into a deciding fifth set against Simmons College on Wednesday evening, but lost to drop their record to 4-9 (4-1 NECC). Simmons improved their record to 11-6 (4-2 GNAC) after winning the match against the Lynx 3-2 (25-16, 25-27, 18-25, 25-12, 15-11).
Lesley was led by sophomore outside hitter Meaghan Chadwick (Chelmsford, Mass.) who had a team-high 11 kills. Chadwick served up two aces was among several Lynx players with double-digit digs as she tallied 23 digs.
Complementing Chadwick's offensive effort was Lindsey Marek (Killingworth, Conn.) who was the only other player with double-digit kills with 10. Marek served two aces and had 10 solo blocks.
Gianna Spaziante (Hawthorne, N.Y.), the senior setter for the Lynx, finished with 34 assists.
The Lynx took a 2-1 set lead and looked poised for their fifth victory over the year, but Simmons battled back to take the fourth set 25-12. The Sharks took their momentum into the deciding set, winning 15-11 to take the match.
Lesley will be back in action on Thursday evening against Suffolk University starting at 7:30 pm at home.
