NEW LONDON, Conn. - The Lesley University women's volleyball team made a big statement to the New England Collegiate Conference this past weekend as the team swept Bay Path College and Mitchell College to move to 3-0 in the conference.

In the first match of the day against Bay Path College, the Lynx were dominant as they won the match 3-0 (25-14, 25-21, 25-20).  Both Lindsey Marek (Killingworth, Conn.) and Kelly Harrington (Toledo, Ohio) led the way offensively as each player had five kills apiece.  Marek was also stellar defensively as she blocked eight attacks by herself.

Gianna Spaziante (Hawthorne, N.Y.) tallied 18 set assists in the match and Kaitlyn Wechsler (Merrick, N.Y.) chipped in with six service aces and 10 digs.

Against Mitchell College, Lesley again swept their opponent by a score of 3-0 (26-24, 25-19, 25-17).

Marek was a force once again, as the junior finished with six kills, nine digs, and six solo blocks.  Meaghan Chadwick (Chelmsford, Mass.) struck down five kills and had eight digs.

Wechsler and Hanna Sakamoto (Tokyo, Japan) ended with double-digit digs, tallying 10 and 11 digs, respectively.

The Lynx will be back in action on Tuesday evening against non-conference opponent Eastern Nazarene College at 7:00 pm.
