CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The Lesley University women's volleyball team shutout Newbury College 3-0 (25-20, 25-16, 25-18) on Wednesday night to get their first overall victory over the season and their first win in New England Collegiate Conference play.

Junior middle hitter Lindsey Marek (Killingworth, Conn.) was extremely efficient for the Lynx as she finished the match with 13 kills on 20 attacks.  Marek also chipped in with five digs, two aces, and a block.  Sophomore Kaitlyn Wechsler (Merrick, N.Y.) complemented Marek's effort with nine kills and six digs.

Setter Gianna Spaziante (Hawthorne, N.Y.) distributed the ball around to several of her teammates for a total of 28 assists.  She also serviced well during the match as the senior tallied seven aces.

Leading the Nighthawks was Tricia Corriveau (Coventry, R.I.) who spiked eight kills.  Jessica Rossi (Wilbraham, Mass.) and Stacie Beliveau (Northwood, N.H.) were effective defensively as both each player had seven and six digs, respectively.

The Lynx will be back in action this Saturday in a tri-match against NECC opponents Mitchell College and Bay Path College on the campus of Mitchell.  Newbury will travel to Southern Vermont College for a match on the same day.
