Volleyball honored with three All-Conference picks

WHITINGHAM, Vt. - A day before their North Atlantic Conference semifinal match with Maine Maritime Academy, the Lesley University women's volleyball team has learned that three of their players have been given NAC All-Conference honors for the fall season.

Sophomore Lindsey Marek (Killingworth, Conn.) was selected to the NAC First Team All-Conference.  The middle hitter led the Lynx with 260 kills (101 in conference games), converting 27% of her attacks.  Defensively, Marek blocked a total of 90 shots, 75 of them on her own.  She also led the team with 2.39 digs per game.

Junior setter Gianna Spaziante (Hawthorne, N.Y.) earned NAC Second Team All-Conference honors as she has been a vital part to the Lynx offense.  Spaziante has done an excellent job of distributing out attacks to several different players on the team as tallied 674 assists (270 in conference games).  She also served well, tallying 97 aces on the season.

Honorable Mention was given out the first year player, senior Anya Vines (San Jose, Calif.).  Vines was essential to a strong defense for the Lynx.  For the season, Vines led the team with 227 digs, 59 of those in conference games.  In her only season on the volleyball, Vines has been an important player on this Lynx squad that is the middle of a deep playoff run.

The Lynx will play Maine Maritime Academy in the NAC Semifinals on Saturday November 3 at 10 a.m.
