Lesley dominates tri-match on Senior Day

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - In an important volleyball tri-match against conference opponents Bay Path College and Thomas College, the Lynx played flawlessly to make an important impact on the North Atlantic Conference standings.

After finishing the day with 3-0 victories over both Bay Path and Thomas, the women's volleyball team now find themselves in third place in the NAC.  If the season were to end today, the Lynx would play host to a crucial first round playoff game at home.

Leading the way for the Lynx was solid middle hitter Lindsey Marek (Killingworth, Conn.) as she spiked home 17 kills on the day and defensively totaled 5 blocks.  Setting up Marek for the kills was junior Gianna Spaziante (Hawthorne, N.Y.) who ended the day with 53 set assists and provided a spark in the offense with 10 kills and 16 aces.

The Lynx also honored two seniors on the team whose contributions have helped put the team in a great position to succeed in the NAC.  Beth Hoilund (Germantown, N.Y.), who has been extremely balanced on both the offensive and defensive side of the court, tallied 8 kills to go along with 5 blocks and 2 block assists.  First year player Anya Vines (San Jose, Calif.) has been a valuable addition to the Lynx squad.  Vines played well at the tri-match by getting 10 kills and providing yet another offensive weapon for setter Spaziante to distribute the ball.

Lesley travels to Suffolk University on Tuesday October 23 in non-conference play.  To learn more about the Lesley University women's volleyball team, please visit their website.
