Lynx top Sharks in impressive fashion 3-0

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The Lesley University women's volleyball team showed tremendous poise and determination as they defeated Becker College 3-0.

Kelly Harrington (Toledo, Ohio) delivered consisted serves down the stretch and Meaghan Chadwick (Chelmsford, Mass.) kept Lesley in the match with six digs to help lead the team to victory.  Gianna Spaziante (Hawthorne, N.Y.) set the ball accurately throughout the match as she spread out the kills to six different teammates.  Defensively, Jackie Urgaro (Valley Stream, N.Y.) and Beth Hoilund (Germantown, N.Y.) provided the highlight of the first match as they combined a block to suppress the Hawks attack.

The second was equally as suspenseful, but the Lady Lynx came out on top courtesy of crucial kills towards the end from Lindey Marek (Killingworth, Conn.) as she towered over the Hawks defenders to put away the match.  Chadwick's seven digs kept the Simmons attackers frustrated while Spaziante confused the Hawks with well placed serves.  With Lesley up 30-29, Chadwick ended the match as her kill, set by Spaziante, split the defense and put the Lynx up 2-0.

The Lynx took their momentum from the previous game and rolled to a 7-2 start in the third match.  Consistent, solid play from the front line kept the Hawks off guard as the Lynx sealed the victory with a 30-14 triumph.

Lesley looks to continue their success this weekend in an important home Tri-Match against conference opponents Becker College and Maine Maritime Academy on Saturday September 29.
