Lesley battles Newbury, falls 3-0

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Despite tough play from both sides of the net Newbury College was able to out muscle Lesley University 3-0 (23-30, 26-30, 22-30) at BB&N, Lesley's home court.

Newbury College got outstanding play from middle hitter Taraja Laws (Easton, Pa.) who seemed to dominate her side of the net.  Newbury also got great outside hitting from Sandra Karalekas (Longmeadow, Mass.) and Katie Hawkes (South Boston, Mass.).

Lesley University hung around all three games with Newbury, giving a last second charge at the end of each game, keeping the Lesley faithful in suspense.  Gianna Spaziante (Hawthorne, N.Y.) and Hana Sakamoto (Tokyo, JAPAN) did there best to fight off the tough hitting Nighthawks as they had one outstanding dig after another.

Spaziante and Lindsey Marek (Killingworth, Conn.) led the attack against Newbury, both showing off tremendous spiking ability.  Megan Bol (Whitinsville, Mass.) continued her outstanding season as the team's setter assisting the big hitters throughout the match.

The Lady Lynx look to bounce back from this tough loss when they travel to Saint Joseph's College in Maine this weekend.  For more information on the Lesley University women's volleyball team please go to their website.
