THE LEAD – For the first time this season, the Lesley University women's tennis team picked up a 9-0 sweep in match play, downing host VTSU Johnson in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) action at the Johnson Tennis Courts on Sunday morning.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- For the second consecutive day, Lesley dominated singles action posting 6-0, 6-0 wins in No. 1 through No. 5 singles by Mary Osucha (Knoxville, Tenn.) at No. 1, Jessica Legendre (Leesville, La.) at No. 2, Caroline Champa (Boston, Mass.) at No. 3, Lucy Boyce (Marshfield, Mass.) at No. 4 and Anna Stamp (Belchertown, Mass.) at No. 5.
- In No. 6 singles, Pamela Manriquez (Quincy, Mass.) notched her first collegiate victory posting a 6-4, 4-6, 13-11 tie-breaking win to complete the 9-0 sweep for the Lynx.
- Osucha and Boyce remained unbeaten on the year in No. 1 doubles with an 8-1 win.
- Legendre and Champa cruised to an 8-0 win in No. 2 doubles.
- Stamp and Sutherland posted an 8-4 win in No. 3 doubles action.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- The doubles win for Sutherland and Stamp was their first together on the year and second doubles win for both, individually.
- Osucha remains undefeated on the year in both singles (7-0) and doubles (7-0) play while Legendre is unbeaten in singles action (7-0).
- The 4-0 start in NAC play matches the program's best start in conference action from the 2019 season when the Lynx finished the year 5-1in NAC action and also clinches a playoff berth for this season for LU.

- Lesley is back at home on Tuesday, Oct. 1 for a 4:00 PM non-conference match vs. Clark.
