THE LEAD – The Lesley University women's tennis team had its four-match winning streak snapped in a 5-4 setback to Thomas College on Saturday afternoon in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) play in Waterville, Maine. The match was moved indoors due to prevailing winds and rain from Hurricane Lee.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Jessica Legendre and Mary Osucha posted an 8-2 win to stay unbeaten at No. 1 doubles on the year (6-0) but it was the only doubles victory for the Lynx as Thomas sophomores Libby Forgues and Keira Gilman picked up the Terriers first win of the day by a score of 8-6 at No. 2 doubles, while grad student Renée Rossi and first year Tracy Lopez took the final doubles win of the day in No. 3 doubles winning by a score of 8-5.
  • Legendre, Osucha and Brooke Whitten took care of business in singles play out of the 1,2 & 3 slots but the Terriers made sure to bounce back with wins in the 4, 5 & 6 positions, splitting singles, 3-3, to take the match, 5-4.
  • Lucy Boyce was in the most competitve showdown of the afternoon in No. 5 singles action vs. Rossi. Rossi took the first set, 6-4 before Boyce returned the favor with a 6-4 win in the second frame to send it to a third set which ultimately went in favor of Rossi and Terriers, 6-1, to secure the home NAC win for Thomas.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

  • In their last four meetings against each other, Lesley & Thomas have split the action with a 2-2 mark with each program going 2-0 on their home courts.

UP NEXT
