THE LEAD – The Lesley University women's tennis team continued its best start in program history Sunday morning with its 9-0 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) victory over Vermont State Lyndon at the Longfellow Club in Natick, Mass.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Lesley did not drop a single set in doubles action as Jessica Legendre and Mary Osucha posted an 8-0 sweep for the second straight day to open play at No. 1 doubles.
  •  Brooke Whitten and Jordan Blair followed suite with an 8-0 win in the No. 2 doubles slot before  Lucy Boyce and Arden Farnsworth-Moore picked up a 2-0 victory in No. 3 doubles after one of their opponents retired in the match-up.
  • Legendre and Whitten did not drop a set in their singles matches, recording 6-0, 6-0 wins at No. 1 and No. 3 singles.
  • Osucha, Blair and Boyce just missed sweeps in their action as the No. 2, No. 4 and No. 5 matches all ended with a 6-1, 6-0 score.
  • Ariane Ramos picked up the victory in No. 6 singles with a 1-0 score following another retired result.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

  • Lesley's four-match winning streak is the program's longest since 2014 when the squad won five straight matches from October 4 through October 18, finishing the season with an 11-4 record.
  • The singles-win for Ramos was her first collegiate win at singles play.

UP NEXT

  • Lesley is idle until next weekend when they head to Maine for a pair of important NAC match-ups. The Lynx face off against Thomas College on Saturday, September 16 at 1:00 PM before a 10:00 AM affair vs. Husson on Sunday, September 17.
  • The Hornets return to the court on Wednesday, September 13 for a non-conference road meeting vs. Plymouth State at 4:00 PM.
