Lynx Fall to Blue Jays in Home Opener

GAME OVERVIEW:

ARLINGTON, MA.-- The Lesley women's tennis team hosted their first home match of the season on Saturday afternoon, falling to Saint Joseph (CT) 7-2. The Lynx drop to 0-4 overall and 0-2 in the GNAC, while the Blue Jays advance to 2-2 overall and 1-0 in the conference.

INSIDE THE BOXSCORE:

  • The Blue Jays earned two wins in the doubles portion of the day, but the Lynx were able to avoid the sweep. Morgan Anderson and Brooke Whitten put up a a strong fight in doubles #1, but were defeated 8-7 on tiebreakers by Kathleen Gilland and Emily Kerr. Elaina Griffiths and Ananya Srivatsav defeated Joselyn Martinez and Annie Dai 8-2, but Jordan Blair and Carolyn Brazil earned a big 8-2 win over Julia Michaud and Maria Porth.
  • Singles were kind to the Blue Jays as well, as Gilland and Kerr took down their doubles opponents in their own matches. Gilland beat Whitten 6-2 and 6-0, while Anderson fell to Kerr in two 6-0 sets.
  • Griffiths and Srivatsav also took down their doubles opponents, with Griffits defeating Martinez 6-3 and 6-2 and Srivatsav taking down Dai 6-0 and 6-1.
  • Michaud defeated Brenna Peterson in two 6-0 sets in singles #5, but Blair was able to stave off a Blue Jays singles sweep by defeating Jenna Griffith 6-3 and 6-4 for her second win of the season.
