Lynx Drop Close Match to Eastern Nazarene

GAME OVERVIEW:

QUINCY, MA.-- The Lesley women's tennis team lost a close match to the Eastern Nazarene Lions in their first conference match of the season, with the Lions winning 5-4. The Lynx fall to 0-3 overall and 0-1 in the GNAC this season, while the Lions advance to 1-3 overall and 1-1 in the conference.

INSIDE THE BOXSCORE:

  • Eastern Nazarene swept the doubles portion of the match, but the Lynx made it difficult on them. Morgan Anderson and Brooke Whitten battled to the end in doubles #1, but were defeated 8-7 by Maria Busila and Katie Cawthorne. Kari Bollinger and Mary Boucher took down Joselyn Martinez and Annie Dai 8-2, while Mya Landry and Jenna Schlosser defeated Jordan Blair and Noelle Simonelli 8-0.
  • Whitten and Anderson did find success in their singles matches, with each of them picking up their first wins of the season. Whitte defeated Busila in three sets, losing the first 6-1 and taking the final two by 6-4 and 6-2 scores. Anderson took down Schlosser in two sets, 6-3 and 6-1.
  • Martinez won her singles match as well, defeating Bolling 6-3 and 6-3. Blair notched Lesley's fourth win of the afternoon by beating Krista Signs in two sets, 6-3 and 7-6.
  • The Lions were able to earn the two wins they needed to clinch victory in singles #4 and singles #5. Cawthorne defeated Dai in two 6-1 sets, while Brenna Peterson dropped two 6-0 sets to Boucher.
