Lynx Unable to Get By Husson, 7-2

GAME OVERVIEW:

BOSTON, MA.-- The Lesley women's tennis team were defeated in conference play for the first time this season by the Husson College Eagles on Sunday morning by a score of 7-2. The loss brings the Lynx to 6-5 overall on the season and 5-1 in the conference, while Husson moves to 8-1 and a clean 6-0 in the conference.

INSIDE THE BOXSCORE:

  • The Eagles earned two strong victories in the doubles portion of the morning, but Lesley was able to take the #3 match. Summer Lamprey and Morgan Anderson teamed up to beat Marisa Brown and Jocelyn Bell 8-4, but Husson countered with an 8-0 shutout by Ashley Matlock and Nicci Munroe over Mary Pulling and Annie Dai. The Eagles also took doulbes #1 by an 8-5 score.
  • Lamprey continued her strong day in singles #4, defeating Husson's Julia O'Leary to three sets. Lamprey took the first set 6-2, but O'Leary was able to come back to tie her after a 6-1 second set. Lamprey pulled out the final set at a 6-2 score, earning Lesley's only win in singles on the day.
  • Bell was able to sweep Kiki Karavas 6-0, 6-0 for a Husson win in singles #6 while Natalie Tilton earned a victory for Husson in singles #2 by a score of 6-1, 4-2 after Anderson retired early due to injury.

The Lynx will host their final match of the season on Thursday October 3rd at 5 PM against Saint Joseph College.
