GAME OVERVIEW:
Waterville, Me. --The Lesley Women's Tennis team opened up conference play with a 9-0 sweep over Thomas College Sunday afternoon. The sweep gave the Lynx their first win on the season while the Terriers drop to 0-2.
INSIDE THE SCORESHEET:
- Lesley made a clean sweep in the doubles action to start the night. All three doubles partners didn't allow the Terriers to score a point en route to three 8-0 victories.
- The Lynx continued their dominance in the singles match up with Maddie Abbott and Theresa Pereira in the No. 1 and No. 2 slots winning in two 6-0 sets apiece.
- Jessica Russo claimed the win with scores of 6-0 and 6-1 over Breanna Whitmarsh in the No. 3 position.
- Sara Stanton, Mary Pulling, and Sarah Tobin closed out the night winning their matches in two sets with scores of 6-0.
INSIDE SCOOP:
"We are really excited about this match win," said senior captain Theresa Periera. "It was a great way to start with our new head coach in a new conference. We have a new found confidence in the way we play and look forward to the rest of the season."
