Lynx Secure 7-2 Road Victory

Cambridge, Mass. – The Lesley University Women's tennis team claims its first win of the season in a 7-2 win at the University of Saint Joseph on Saturday at the USJ Tennis Courts.  The win brings the Lynx to an even 1-1 on the season, while the Blue Jays drop 0-1 on their opener.

Lesley jumped ahead 3-0 early after sweeping doubles play to begin the afternoon. Caroline Kiddie and Theresa Pereira teamed up in the No. 1 doubles match earning an an 8-2 victory, Jessica Russo and Maddie Abbott claimed the two spot with an 8-1 victory, and Rachel Miningham and Sara Stanton took the No. 3 doubles match with an 8-6 win. 

In singles play, the Blue Jays picked up their pair of points at the No.  4 and No. 5 positions. Lesley took 4 out of 6 singles matches with Kiddie, Abott, Pereira, and Miningham all claiming victories for the Lynx.  Kiddle took the No.1 singles match in straight sets 6-4, 6-4.  The Lynx also took points in the No. 2, No. 3, and No. 6 singles matches. Sophomore Maddie Abbot (Portland, Maine) defeated junior Leah Nguyen (West Hartford, Conn.) 6-3, 6-1 at No. 2 singles, senior Theresa Pereira (Hopedale, Mass.) defeated junior Ashley Savino (Old Saybrook, Conn.) 6-3, 6-2 at No. 3 singles, and freshman Rachael Mingingham (Hopedale, Mass.) defeated McAllister 6-4, 6-2 at No. 6 singles.

Lesley is back in action Tuesday September 12th when they travel to UMass Boston.
