CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Lesley University held a 2-1 leading following doubles play, but Becker College stormed back to take four out of six singles matches to claim a 5-4 win over the Lynx tonight in New England Collegiate Conference play at the Nicholas Athletics Center. The win propels the Hawks to 8-7 overall and 7-2 in the conference while the Lynx drop to 2-11 on the season and 2-5 in NECC matches.

Lesley sophomores Caroline Kiddie (Scituate, Mass.) and Theresa Pereira (Hopedale, Mass.) opened the evening with an 8-1 victory at No. 1 doubles before juniors Diana Watson (Acton, Mass.) and Frances De Leon (Murrieta, Calif.) followed with an 8-6 win in the second doubles flight.

Becker avoided the doubles sweep as Jessica Leger (Auburn, Maine) and Kerry Saltvick (Bakersfield, Calif.) provided the Hawks with an 8-4 decision over Courtney Goggin (Cheshire, Conn.) and Hannah Levensailor (Ayer, Mass.).

Kiddie opened singles play with a decisive 6-4, 6-0 win over Lord in the top singles match. The win was Kiddie's fourth victory in her last five singles matches. Hawks sophomore Jacqueline Andrade (Somerset, Mass.) earned a point for the visitors as she outlasted De Leon 7-6, 6-1 in No. 2 singles before Pereira put the Lynx one win away from clinching the match with a 6-3, 6-2 win in the third match.

Lesley was unable to close out the match, however, as the Hawks earned victories in the final three matches of the night to comeback for the 5-4 win.

Leger downed Watson with identical 6-1 scores in the fourth flight while Dana Mahan (Manville, R.I.) posted a 6-3, 7-5 win at No. 5. Wodell used scores of 6-0. 6-0 to claim victory in the sixth and final singles match of the night.

The Lynx return to NECC play tomorrow night when they host Bay Path University at 7:30p before heading to battle Newbury College on Saturday. Becker will close out their regular season on Saturday when they welcome Regis College at 1:00p.
