Women's Tennis Falls at Regis

WESTON, Mass. – The Lesley University women's tennis team fell 8-1 at Regis College this evening in New England Collegiate Conference action on the Pride campus. The loss drops the Lynx to 2-9 overall and 2-4 in the NECC while the Pride improves to 7-1 on the season and a perfect 6-0 in the conference.

The Pride won all three doubles matches and five of six singles matches to claim the win.

Lesley University sophomore Caroline Kiddie (Scituate, Mass.) claimed the only win for the visitors as she topped junior Erica Murphy (Portsmouth, N.H.) 6-4, 2-6, 10-5 in the top singles flight.

Murphy and fellow junior Jessie Lord (Fall River, Mass.) downed Kiddie and sophomore Theresa Pereira (Hopedale, Mass.) 8-2 in No. 1 doubles. Regis junior Emily Rice (Pittsfield, Mass.) and freshman Katasha Jarvis (Mt. Vernon, N.Y.) posted an 8-0 victory in number two doubles while Pride senior Jewel Medeiros (Rochester, N.H.) and sophomore Amy Dipace (Cambridge, Mass.) followed with an 8-0 decision of their own in the third doubles match.

In the singles portion of the match, Lord and Medeiros both came away with 6-0, 6-0 wins in the No 2 and No. 5 matches, respectively, while Rice and Jarvis both posted 6-0, 6-1 decisions in the third and fourth matches.

Pride sophomore Sara Kanarkiewicz (Peabody, Mass.) completed the day as she outlasted Lynx sophomore Courtney Goggin (Cheshire, Conn.) 6-3, 7-5 in the sixth and final match.

Lesley will be back in action on Sunday when they travel to Curry College for a non-conference match at noon while Regis will conclude their six-match home stand on Thursday when they host Bay Path University at 4:30p.
