Eastern Nazarene Downs Women's Tennis

QUINCY, Mass.- Host Eastern Nazarene College topped the Lesley University women's tennis team 8-1 this afternoon in non-conference action. The win improves the Lions to an even 3-3 on the season while the Lynx fall to 0-4 overall.

The Lions swept through doubles play while Lynx sophomore Caroline Kiddie (Scituate, Mass.) was able to earn the sole win in singles with a 6-3, 5-7, 10-8 win in the No. 1 match.

ENC's Adele Duval (Dallas, Texas) and Lindsey Steelman (Darlington, Md.) downed Kiddie and fellow sophomore Theresa Pereira (Hopedale, Mass.) at the No. 1 doubles position 8-1 before Tressa Burrello (Herkimer, N.Y.) and Jordan Cressman (Bowmanstown, Pa.) topped Rose Heller (State College, Pa.) and Frances De Leon (Murrieta, Calif.) in the second doubles match 8-0. Julie Sutton (Middletown, Conn.) and Alecia Tubbs (Rochester, N.Y.) completed the doubles sweep with an 8-0 victory at the No. 3 doubles spot against Lesley's Courtney Goggin (Cheshire, Conn.) and Hannah Levensailor (Ayer, Mass.).

Eastern Nazarene captured five singles wins en route to clinching its third victory of the season.

Burrello downed Pereira at the No. 3 singles slot 6-1, 6-1 while Cressman blanked Heller 6-0, 6-0 at the fourth position.Tubbs prevailed 6-2, 6-2 at the fifth spot and Sutton bested Levensailor 6-0, 6-0 in the sixth singles match.At the No. 2 singles position, Steelman claimed the first set 6-1 before her opponent retired due to injury.

The Lynx will return home to Cambridge tomorrow as they continue with New England Collegiate Conference play at 7:30p against Mitchell College while the Lions will host UMass-Boston on September 17.
