Women's Tennis Falls in Season Opener at Suffolk

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Lesley University women's tennis opened their 2015 season with a 9-0 loss to Suffolk University in a non-conference tilt at the Nicholas Athletics Center this afternoon. The victory for the Rams lifted the hosts to 2-0 on the early season while the Lynx dip to 0-1 to start the season.

In doubles action, Aidiana Sagyndykova and Valentina Medina raced out to an early lead en route to an 8-1 victory over Lesley sophomore Caroline Kiddie (Scituate, Mass.) and Frances Deleon (Murrieta, Calif.) at No. 1. Isabel Rathlev and Jacquelyn Nakamura followed with an identical score over sophomore Theresa Pereira (Hopedale, Mass.) and Rose Heller (College Park, Pa.) in the second slot. The Rams earned the third doubles point due to forfeit.

Medina earned her second win of the day as she posted 6-3, 6-0 triumph over Kiddie in the top singles slot. On the second and third singles courts Suffolk won by identical scores of 6-1, 6-0. Sagyndykova took down Deleon in the second spot, while Abby Trigilio defeated Pereira.

Fourth and fifth singles both yielded 6-0, 6-0 results as Lindsey Reese topped Heller in the fourth positon and Meghan French beat Courtney Goggin at No. 5.

Both squads will be back in action on Tuesday as the Lynx will welcome Anna Maria College at 7:30p while Suffolk heads out on the road for the first time this season at Rhode Island College.
