Kiddie Named NECC Rookie of the Year; Barker, Iverson Honored

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Lesley University freshman Caroline Kiddie (Scituate, Mass.) has been named 2014 New England Collegiate Conference Women's Tennis Rookie of the Year. NECC Assistant Commissioner for Media Relations, Roger Crosley, made the announcement this afternoon.

In addition to being named Rookie of the Year, Kiddie was also named to First Team Singles and First Team Doubles along with partner Carlyn Barker (Murrieta, Calif.). Barker was also placed on the First Team Singles team after her strong season at the No. 3 slot. Senior Carissa Iverson (St. Johnsbury, Vt.) was reward for her strong season as she was named Honorable Mention for Singles.

Kiddie turned in one of the best seasons in program history as she finished the season with a 12-3 overall mark at No. 1 singles, including an impressive 7-1 record in NECC play.

Barker finished her singles campaign with a 7-4 overall record at the No. 3 slot, going an even 2-2 in conference play.

In doubles, Kiddie and Barker finished at 13-1 overall with a perfect 7-0 mark in the NECC. After dropping the season-opening match, the duo rattled off 13 straight victories for the Lynx. The top tandem was also named to the NECC All-Tournament team this past Saturday.

Iverson was solid in the No. 2 singles slot for the Lynx, going 8-7 overall and 4-4 in the conference. The senior also had a terrific season at doubles, finishing 7-2 with a variety of partners.

The Lynx wrapped up their historic season this past Saturday as they fell to Regis College in the NECC Championship.
