WINCHESTER, Mass. -- The second-seeded Lesley University women's tennis team defeated third-seeded Bay Path University 8-1 in today's New England Collegiate Conference Semifinal match and has punched their ticket to square off with top seed Regis College tomorrow for the NECC Championship. The Wildcats, who defeated the Lynx 5-4 in the 2013 NECC Semifinal, end their season with a 4-9 overall record.

The Lynx took two out of three in doubles and proceeded to sweep through the singles portion of the match.  

Freshman Caroline Kiddie (Scituate, Mass.) and sophomore Carlyn Barker (Murrieta, Calif.) started the Lynx off right with an 8-0 win in No. 1 doubles over Bay Path seniors Stephanie Morin (Springfield, Mass.) and Abigail Janneke (Waterbury, Conn.). Lesley senior Carissa Iverson (St. Johnsbury, Vt.) and junior Victoria Bunker (Auburn, Maine) followed with an 8-1 triumph over Edna Aboagye (Wappinger Falls, N.Y.) and Yismel Rosario (Methuen, Mass.) in the third doubles flight.

Wildcat juniors Brittany Walsh (N. Smithfield, R.I.) and Taylor Wood (Castleton, N.Y.) combined to give the visitors their only win of the afternoon with an 8-4 victory over Lynx senior Emma True (Lee, N.H.) and Molly Phelps (Durham, N.H.).

Kiddie continued her momentum in the top singles flight, posting a 6-1, 6-1 win over Morin before Lesley sophomore Frances De Leon (Murrieta, Calif.) defeated Aboagye 6-1, 6-3 in the No. 5 singles match. Barker downed Wood 6-1, 6-4 in the third singles match to seal the victory for the Lynx while True battled past Janneke 6-2, 6-4 in the No. 4 match.

Iverson topped Walsh 7-5, 6-3 in No. 2 singles before Lynx junior Christyl Skelton (Burlington, Mass.) wrapped things up with a 7-6, 6-1 victory over Leibowitz in the sixth and final singles match.

Lesley will travel to Weston, Mass. tomorrow at 1:00p to face the Pride for the NECC Championship. Regis topped fourth-seeded Becker College 9-0 this afternoon to advance to their third straight NECC final. Regis provided Lesley's only blemishes in their 6-2 conference record as they defeated the Lynx 5-4, and 7-1 during the regular season.
