
MILTON, Mass. – The Lesley University women's tennis team won their fourth straight match this afternoon with an 8-1 non-conference win over Curry College. With the win the Lynx wrapped up their best regular season since 2009 as they improve to 10-3 on the season, while the Colonels fall to 1-13 overall.
The Lynx swept all three double matches and were victorious in five singles matches. The Colonels earned their only win at the #2 singles spot.
Lesley's No. 1 singles player, freshman Caroline Kiddie (Scituate, Mass.) won her match 6-4, 6-2 against junior Kimberly Love (Windsor Locks, Conn.). Curry's sophomore Kayla Prete (Orange, Conn.) earned her team's only point on the day at the No. 2 slot when she claimed her victory over senior Carissa Iverson (St. Johnsbury, Vt.), 1-6, 6-0, 10-8. In No. 3 singles, the Colonels junior Hannah Erickson (Mount Desert, Maine) was bested by sophomore Carlyn Barker (Murrieta, Calif.), 3-6, 6-4, 10-5.
At No. 4 singles, Lynx senior Emma True (Lee, N.H.) upended senior Alison Rhodes (Rye, N.H.), 6-2, 6-1 before Curry freshman Jennifer Dube (Coventry, Conn.) fell to junior Christyl Skelton (Burlington, Mass.), 6-3, 6-2 in the No. 5 flight. In the final singles match, Lesley's Meghann Toomajian (Nahant, Mass.) swept freshman Sanjay Toure (Brockton, Mass.), 6-0, 6-0.
In doubles, the top duo of Barker and Kiddie bested Love and Prete, 8-4. At the No. 2 doubles slot, True and senior Molly Phelps (Durham, N.H.) outlasted Erickson and Rhodes, 8-5. In the final match on the day, the Lynx No. 3 tandem of junior Victoria Bunker (Auburn, Maine) and Iverson defeated Toure and Dube, 8-1.
Lesley returns to action on Saturday, October 18, in the NECC Semi-finals.
