CAMBRIDGE, Mass.- Lesley University defeated Becker College 7-2 in New England Collegiate Conference women's tennis action Saturday afternoon. The win lifts the Lynx record to 9-3 (6-2 NECC), while the Hawks sink to 2-12 (1-6 NECC).

In top doubles action Lesley's Carlyn Barker (Murrieta, Calif.) and Caroline Kiddie (Scituate, Mass.) downed Jennifer Lord (Fall River, Mass.) and Jacqueline Andrade (Somerset, Mass.), 8-1. The Lynx duo of Emma True (Lee, N.H.) and Molly Phelps (Durham, N.H.) captured number two doubles by defeating Livia Smith (Worcester, Mass.) and Chenylle Mercado (Tyngsborough, Mass.), 8-2. Lesley completed the sweep of doubles when Carissa Iverson (St. Johnsbury, Vt.) and Frances De Leon (Murrieta, Calif.) bested Kerry Saltvick (Bakersfield, Calif.) and Dana Mahan (Manville, R.I.), 8-1.

In top singles action Caroline Kiddie outlasted Jennifer Lord in a third set tie breaker, 5-7, 6-3, 10-4.  Becker earned the victory in number two singles when Jacqueline Andrade overcame a 6-2 loss in the first set to defeat Carissa Iverson 6-4 in the second set. Andrade completed the comeback by winning the tie breaker 10-7. In number three singles, Lesley's Emma True soared past Livia Smith in straight sets, 6-4, 6-0. Frances De Leon earned a victory in number four singles when she fought off Becker's Kerry Saltvick, 6-4, 6-1.  In number five singles Christyl Skelton (Burlington, Mass.) held off Chenylle Mercado, 6-0, 3-6, 10-7. The sixth singles set also took a third set tie breaker to decided as Becker's Dana Mahan defeated Victoria Bunker (Auburn, Maine), 1-6, 6-4, 12-10.

Lesley will wrap up their regular season on Monday, October 13 when travel to Curry College at 3:30 p.m. Becker will try to keep their season alive when they host NECC rival Bay Path College on Tuesday, October 14 at 3:00 p.m.
