Women's Tennis Makes it Two Straight with Win Over ENC

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Lesley University women's tennis program notched their second consecutive win with a 7-2 victory over Eastern Nazarene College tonight at Buckingham, Browne, and Nichols. With the win, the Lynx improve to 2-1 as they get ready to move into conference play while the Lions fall to 2-3 on the season.

The Lynx took the doubles portion of the night, 2-1, as the tandem of Emma True (Lee, N.H.) and Christyl Skelton (Burlington, Mass.) got the night started with an 8-5 triumph over Hannah Lariviere (Biddeford, Maine) and Bethany Mohnkern (Petersburg, Pa.) in No. 3 doubles. Lesley tallied their second win of the night as Caroline Kiddie (Scituate, Mass.) and Carlyn Barker (Murrieta, Calif.) teamed up for an 8-6 victory in the first doubles pairing, topping Tressa Burrello (Herkimer, N.Y.) and Lindsey Steelman (Darlington, Md.).

The Lions cut into the Lynx lead with a victory in No. 2 doubles as Jordan Cressman (Bowmanstown, Pa.) and Alecia Tubbs (Rochester, N.Y.) gave the guests their first win of the night with a 9-7 decision over Frances De Leon (Murrieta, Calif.) and Victoria Bunker (Auburn, Maine).

The Lynx continued their success to start the singles portion of the match. Barker defeated Cressman 6-1, 6-4 in No. 2 singles while Kiddie prevailed in a hard fought No. 1 matchup with a 6-1, 7-5 win over Steelman.

Senior Carissa Iverson (St. Johnsbury, Vt.) followed with a victory in the third singles flight, topping Cressman 6-1, 3-6, 10-8 to seal the win for the hosts.

De Leon gave the Lynx their fourth win in singles on the night as she posted a 7-5, 6-3 decision over Tubbs in No. 4 singles while True topped Lariviere 6-1, 6-2 at No. 5.

Mohnkern gave the Lions their lone victory in singles, posting a 6-4, 6-4 win over Bunker in the sixth and final match of the evening.

The Lynx will return to the court on Tuesday, September 16th when they open up New England Collegiate Conference play at Regis College. The match is set to start at 5:00p. The Lions will continue their four-match road trip on Friday, September 12th when they travel to Rhode Island to square off with Salve Regina University at 3:30p.
