LONGMEADOW, Mass. -- The Bay Path College Wildcats topped the Lynx by a score of 7-2 this afternoon in New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) women's tennis action this afternoon in Longmeadow. With the win, Bay Path improves to 6-2 on the year and a perfect 3-0 in conference play while Lesley falls to 2-4 overall and 1-2 in NECC play.

Wildcat senior Symone Watson (Hamden, Conn.) and junior Stephanie Morin (Springfield, Mass.) teamed up to take an 8-2 decision in first doubles over Lynx juniors Emma True (Lee, N.H.) and Molly Phelps (Durham, N.H.). Bay Path took a 2-0 lead after the tandem of Teanna Montoya (Edgartown, Mass.) and Abigail Janneke (Waterbury, Conn.) topped the Lesley team of sophomore Kelly Watt (Babylon, N.Y.) and freshman Kaitlin Parthum (Marblehead, Mass.), also by a score of 8-2.

The Lynx cut the Wildcat lead in half as they pulled out a tough win in No. 2 doubles. Freshman Frances De Leon (Murrieta, Calif.) and sophomore Victoria Bunker (Auburn, Me.) volleyed extremely well and took the match, 9-7, over Bay Path sophomores Brittany Walsh (North Smithfield, R.I.) and Taylor Wood (Castleton, N.Y.).

Taylor Wood redeemed herself in No. 5 singles, posting a 6-2, 6-0 victory before Brittany Walsh clinched the match for the Wildcats with a 6-1, 6-1 win in No. 3 singles over Emma True.

De Leon would register the only win for the Lynx in singles play, capturing a 7-6 tiebreak win in the first set before taking a 6-2 win in the second over Teanna Montoya in No. 4 singles.

The Lynx are back in NECC action tomorrow when they head to Becker College for a 3:30p start.
