Constantine, Scolaro win doubles, Lynx fall 5-1 NECC's

LONGMEADOW, MA -- No. 3 seeded Lesley University saw its season come to a close Friday afternoon, losing 5-1 at No. 2 Bay Path College in the New England Collegiate Conference women's tennis playoffs.

Lesley's team of Christina Constantine and Emily Scolaro earned their first win of the year, snapping an 0-5 doubles drought. The duo picked up an 8-3 win in third doubles over Tara Mulane and Teanna Montoya, but it would be the only point the Lynx picked up in the season-ending loss.

Playing first doubles for the first time after going 7-1 in the No. 2 spot entering Friday, the team of Brenna Donovan and Nicole Smith lost, 8-3, to Bay Path's Symone Watson and Sarah Costa.

With the win, Bay Path advances to the NECC Championship against Becker College tomorrow, traveling to the Hawks in Leicester, MA.

The Lynx end 2011 at 5-8 after going 5-5 in NECC play, 3-2 at home and today dropping the team's only playoff contest.
