Lynx move into first with 5-4 win over Pride

CAMBRIDGE, MA - The Lynx upended Regis College in women's tennis play Tuesday night, defeating the Pride and moving Lesley into first place in the NECC at 2-0.

Lesley began the night by taking two of three doubles points, with sisters Michelle Side and Katie Side (Miller Place, NY/Rocky Point), winning first doubles, 9-7 against Regis' Elora Gvanados (Chilicothe, TX/ Chillicothe) and Paige Pasley (Dorchester, MA/Fontbonne Academy). 

Nicole Smith (Rindge, NH/Dublin School) and Brenna Donovan (Hingham, MA/Hingham) defeated Mary Jane Barron (Whitinsville, MA/Holy Name) and Kendall Kolb (Plymouth, MA/Plymouth) 8-5 to secure the doubles competition win, though in the third doubles Regis' Erika Palmer (Southborough, MA/Agonquin) and Caroline Roche (Hanover, MA/Notre Dame) took the win 8-2 against Christina Constantine (Amsterdam, NY/Amsterdam) and Emily Scolaro (Peabody, MA/Peabody).

Regis' Gvanados knocked off Michelle Side in first singles, 4-6, 6-3, 6-4, but Lesley walked away with singles wins from Smith, Katie Side, and Brenna Donovan in second, third and fourth singles to take the 5-4 win. 

Lesley remains undefeated in NECC play at 2-0 and moves to 2-1 overall, while Regis falls to 0-5 on the year and 0-2 in the NECC.

The Lynx return to play Sunday against Mitchell at noon at the Nicholas Athletics Center.
