Lynx suffer 5-4 loss to Mariners

NEW LONDON, Conn. - The Lesley University women's team fell to 5-5 (2-4 NECC) following a 5-4 loss to Mitchell College, who earned their first victory of the season and improved to 1-9 (1-5 NECC).  The Lynx will next host Senior Night on Saturday, October 10 against Bay Path College starting at 12:00 pm.

Lesley's Courtney Mullen (SPRINGFIELD, Ore./Marist) came out victorious in both her singles and doubles match as she won the #1 singles 6-1, 7-5 and #1 doubles 8-3 with teammate Michelle Side (MILLER PLACE, N.Y./Rocky Point).

Nicole Smith (RINDGE, N.H./Dublin School) was also a bright spot for Lynx with a straight set victory (6-0, 6-2) in the #3 singles match.  Smith, along with doubles partner Emily Lapean (MONTAGUE, Mass./Turner Falls), ended up winners in a tight #2 doubles match as they won by a score of 9-7.

The Lynx started off a 0-2 hole to start the match as they played with just five players.  With Mitchell winning three singles matches, including a crucial #2 singles match, the Mariners cruised to victory.
