CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - In the final singles match between Lesley University and Becker College, Brenna Donovan (HINGHAM, Mass./Hingham) came from one set behind to beat her opponent and in the process lifted the Lynx to a 5-4 victory over the Hawks.
Lesley improved to 5-4 (2-3 NECC) while Becker suffered their first conference loss of the season, dropping to 8-5 (4-1 NECC).
The Lynx started off slow in the match, losing two out of three doubles matches to the Hawks. The only doubles victory came from the #3 doubles duo of Nicole Smith (RINDGE, N.H./Dublin School) and Donovan who handed the opposition an 8-3 defeat.
In singles play, Lesley's #1 and #2 singles players took care of business and won in straight sets. Number one Courtney Mullen (SPRINGFIELD, Ore./Marist) won 6-0, 7-5 and #2 Michelle Side (MILLER PLACE, N.Y./Rocky Point) won after her opponent retired in the first set.
Caroline Cingari (STAMFORD, Conn./Westhill) was impressive in her #5 singles victory, winning 6-0, 6-2 and Donovan won the match for the Lynx by a score of 5-7, 7-6 (7-3), 6-3 in her #4 singles competition.
Lesley will travel down to Mitchell College on Thursday, October 8 for a NECC match starting at 3:30 pm.
