CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The Lesley University women's tennis team played back-to-back matches with non-conference opponent Johnson State College on Sunday and swept the Badgers, winning 9-0 and 8-1. The Lynx lift their 2009 record to 4-4 (1-3 NECC) following the two victories.
Michelle Side (MILLER PLACE, N.Y./Rocky Point) and Caroline Cingari (STAMFORD, Conn./Westhill) survived a close call match with Johnson State's #1 doubles team but came out on top 9-8, winning the tiebreaker point 7-4.
Courtney Mullen (SPRINGFIELD, Ore./Marist) and Emily Lapean (MONTAGUE, Mass./Turner Falls), who competed in the #2 doubles match, also edged out their opponents by winning 9-7.
Brenna Donovan (HINGHAM, Mass./Hingham) was one of a few Lesley players who went undefeated in the double header as she won her #4 singles matches 8-6 and 8-3 as well as her #3 doubles matches 8-4 and 8-0.
Lesley will host New England Collegiate Conference opponent Becker College on Tuesday, October 6 at 6:00 pm.
