CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The Lesley University women's tennis team defeated New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) opponent Mitchell College on Thursday evening to earn their first-ever conference victory in program history.  The win improves Lesley's record to 2-3 (1-0 NECC) while Mitchell falls to 0-5 (0-2 NECC).

In the number one singles match, Julie Felts (CARVER, Mass./Silver Lake Regional) of Mitchell gave Courtney Mullen (SPRINGFIELD, Ore./Marist) a difficult match but Mullen pulled out another singles victory as she won 6-3, 7-5.  Mullen improved to 4-1 in singles play this season.

Mullen and teammate Michelle Side pulled off a close 8-6 triumph over Felts and her doubles partner Erica Fazio (WATERFORD, Conn./Waterford) in the number one doubles match.

In the other matches of the day, Lesley was able to pull over similar straight victories with Mitchell unable to get more than three games in a set.

Lesley will travel to conference foe Bay Path College on Saturday, September 26 for a match starting at 1:00 pm.  Mitchell hosts Newbury College on the same day also at 1:00 pm.
