THE LEAD— In their second matchup of the season, the Lesley University women's soccer once again shut out Thomas College, 2-0, Wednesday evening.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Both sides played a competitive first period as neither side found the back of the net, thanks to solid defense and goaltending. Despite not scoring however, Lesley applied the offensive pressure throughout the entire opening frame as the Lynx outshot the Terriers, 20-1.
- Lesley had its best chance to strike first early in the first period when the Lynx peppered Terriers goalie Emily Rock with three quick shots from Sacha Porter (Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif.), Abby Kalou (Chicago, Ill.), and Chase Livesey (St. Petersburg, Fla.) at 8:30, 8:47, and 8:50, respectively but Rock turned away the Lynx each time.
- Going into the second period, Lesley continued its aggressive approach, and at 53:15, Porter netted the eventual game-winning goal past Rock's left side after Bethany Slivka (Berkley, Mass.) set her up.
- Later in the second, Lesley added an insurance goal courtesy of Kalou that made it 2-0. From then on, the Lynx held on for the eventual 2-0 victory.
