Kalou Earns NAC Co-Player of the Week Honors

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Lesley College women's soccer senior forward Abby Kalou (Chicago, Ill.) was named North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Co-Player of the Week as announced by the conference. The weekly honor is Kalou's first of the season and the first of her career.

Kalou joins fellow Lynx, Sacha Porter (Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif.)Madison Reed (Burlingame, Calif.), and Lily Wright (Haymarket, Va.) as previous weekly NAC award winners. Porter was named Defensive Player of the Week on Sept. 3, Reed was also NAC Defensive Player of the Week on Sept. 23, and finally, Wright was recognized as Rookie of the Week on Sept. 23.

Last week, for the Lynx, Kalou helped the squad go 2-1, highlighted by a 7-0 win over Thomas College (Oct. 8) and a 2-1 thriller at Husson (Oct. 12). In last Wednesday's triumph over Thomas, Kalou notched two goals and also registered her 100th career point. Kalou's historic marker came late in the first half as Payten Gallagher (Eugene, Ore.) slotted a pass to the winger for the finish. Kalou has become only the fourth student-athlete in program history to reach the 100-point milestone. Later in the week at Husson, Kalou opened up the scoring when she netted the game's first goal, ultimately leading to a 2-1 win against the Eagles.

Kalou and the Lynx will remain home this week. First, they will face Framingham State in a nonconference matchup tomorrow at 7 p.m. Then, the squad will conclude its two-game slate with a NAC contest against UMaine Farmington on Saturday, October 19. Saturday's match is slated for a noon start time and also is Lesley's Athletics Alumni Weekend.
