THE LEAD—The Lesley University women's soccer team saw its four-game win streak snapped by Husson University, 1-0, Sunday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Both sides played hard defensively in the first half, combining for only three shots throughout the opening period.
- Lesley had a solid chance to get on the board late in the frame (37:23) when Abby Kalou (Chicago, Ill.) sent a shot that went just wide left.
- However, shortly into the second (47:45), the Eagles broke the scoreless draw when Mackenzie Lambert found the back of the net for the 1-0 advantage.
- The Lynx had multiple chances to even the contest, including a shot by Kalou in the 77th minute that was saved by Eagles goalie Hannah Kenney. From then on, Husson's defense held on for the 1-0 win.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Kalou paced the offense with four shots on the day. Lauren Rudolph (Winchester, Va.) also chipped in one shot of her own.
- Kalou has posted four or more shots in nine games this season.
- Both Lesley and Husson finished with five shots apiece. In the second period, Lesley outshot Husson 4-3.
- The Eagles held the slight edge in corner kicks by a 2-1 margin.
