Lynx move to 2-0 in NECC with 2-0 triumph at Becker

LEICESTER, MA -- Lesley women's soccer improved to 7-1-2 overall and 2-0 in New England Collegiate Conference play with a 2-0 win at Becker on Saturday.

After almost 40 scoreless minutes to open the contest, Lynx senior Kate Ryder sent home her fourth goal in six games, opening the scoring by converting on a breakaway that gave Lesley a 1-0 advantage at the intermission. Despite the narrow halftime lead, Lesley outshot Becker 14-1 in the first and totaled two of the frame's three corner kicks.

The Lynx picked up some insurance 17 minutes into the second half in the form a Sarah Apgar goal, which came on junior Veronica Halen's fourth assist of the season, as Apgar doubled the Lynx lead at 61:59.

Becker, meanwhile, managed just three shots on the afternoon, putting only one on net at sophomore keeper Emileigh Lloyd, who notched a single save in recording her second straight shutout. On the day, Lesley outshot the Hawks 28-3 and earned a 7-1 advantage in corner kicks.

Hawks goalkeeper Kaitlyn Rose made 13 saves on 15 Lynx shots on goal.

With the loss, Becker falls to 3-4-2 and 1-1 in NECC play.

Lesley returns to play Wednesday at Bay Path College.
