Lani Cabral-Pini selected to NEWISA Senior Bowl

NASHUA, N.H. - Lesley University women's soccer senior Lani Cabral-Pini (Wilmington, Mass.) was selected by the New England Women's Intercollegiate Soccer Association (NEWISA) to play in the 2008 Senior Bowl.  The NEWISA Senior Bowl, an all-star game showcasing the best Division I, II, and III talent from all the New England Region.

Cabral-Pini, a four-year starter in the midfield for the Lynx, has been a star on the pitch since 2005.  Since her rookie season, Cabral-Pini has recorded 23 goals, 20 assists, and 66 points over her illustrious career.  Her best season came just this past fall for a high-potent Lesley offense as the senior scored six goals and found her teammates for eight assists.

Head Coach Paul Vasconcelos talked about Cabral-Pini's impact on the women's soccer program over the past four years, "Lani is one of the best players to have ever played at Lesley.  As the centerpiece of our midfield she has been instrumental in our turnaround.  She has been a great leader for our team and will certainly be missed on and off the field."

Cabral-Pini's selection to participate in NEWISA's annual event comes after three weeks of voting by coaches from all division around New England.  The game is scheduled to be played at Rivier College on Sunday, December 14th at 12:00 pm.
