THE LEAD – The Lesley University softball team hosted Husson University for a Friday North Atlantic Conference (NAC) matchup but unfortunately the squad fell 12-0 in game one, and 13-0 in game two.
HOW IT HAPPENED (GM 1)
- Husson jumped on Lesley right away as the Eagles plated four-runs in the top half of the first. Bulla McCabe highlighted the scoring for the visitors in the first with an RBI triple that found a gap in right center.
- The Eagles bats continued where they left off in the first by scoring three more runs in the second which included a Julia Gregoire RBI single. In the bottom half of the frame, Lesley tried to get a rally going after a Kari Sorensen (Thousand Oaks, Calif.) double to left with one out. However, Husson starter Jazmin Johnson retired the next two batters to keep the lead at seven (7-0).
- After a scorless fourth, Husson tacked on another four runs in the fifth which was highlighted by a two-run RBI double off the bat of McCabe that made it 12-0. From then on, Johnson retired the Lynx in order in the bottom half of the frame and earned the 12-0 win.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS (GM 1)
- Sorenesen and Leah St. John (New Ipswich, N.H.) were the lone Lesley hitters to record a hit in game one.
- For Husson, McCabe led the Eagles with three RBIs. Along with McCabe, Gregoire and Lydia Rice had multiple RBIs as well finishing with two apiece.
- Emma Hodgkins (Raymond, N.H.) was dealt the loss in game one after going 5.0 IP while allowing 13 hits and 12 runs (10 earned) while striking out two.
- Johnson got the win for the visitors after going all five innings and giving up juts two hits and no runs while striking out six.
HOW IT HAPPENED (GM 2)
- Husson's bats did not cool off from game one as the Eagles opened the game with a two-run inning which included RBIs from both McCabe and Gregoire.
- Despite the quick start though, Lesley starter Madison Herbert (Milford, N.H.) kept the Eagles bats quiet for the next two innings by not allowing a run. She had a stretch of retiring six-straight batters throughout the second.
- Even though Husson tacked on another run in the fourth, Herbert escaped the rest of the inning unscathed by focing two Eagles flyouts to only keep the damage at one run.
- The squad had a chance in the fourth when Sorensen ripped a single to right center but unfortunately, Eagles starter Sierra Yates retired the side and kept Lesley off the scoreboard.
- Husson did most of its damage in the seventh thanks to a seven-run inning that made it 13-0. Tori Exel highlighted the high-scoring inning with an RBI double to deep right center that made it 9-0 at the time. Yates was then able to shut down the Lynx in the final inning which resulted in a 13-0 win.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS (GM 2)
- Three different Lynx recorded a hit in game two on Friday (Hodgkins, Isabella Moscoso (El Cajon, Calif.), and Sorensen).

- Gregoire and McCabe led the Husson offense with three RBIs each.
