GAME OVERVIEW:

EAST BOSTON, MA. – The Lesley Lynx Softball team split a doubleheader with the Suffolk Rams on Tuesday night, dropping game one 6-2 and taking game two 15-13. The Lynx finish the night at 7-5, while the Rams advance to 13-5.

INSIDE GAME 1:

• Suffolk got on the board first with an RBI double by Jolie Quintana, the second batter of the game. Quintana advanced to third on a wild pitch and scored on a base hit by Ava Brandow for a 2-0 Rams lead. The Lynx would tie it up quickly, thanks to a sacrifice bunt by Lindsey Jensen that turned into a throwing error by pitcher Julia Newcomb that scored Antonia Kieran and Samantha Mecklenburg.
• After tying it up, the Lynx would fail to score again while Suffolk built up their lead. They went back in front in the bottom of the second on an RBI double by Caitlin Murphy and added another on a solo homer from Ira Boci.
• The Rams would put two more insurance runs on the board in the bottom of the sixth with an RBI groundout by Lily Gustafson and a sac fly from Rebecca Zellin.
• Mecklenburg took the loss, allowing six runs (five earned) on eight hits. Alexa White got the win in relief of Newcomb with 5.2 hitless, runless innings. Murphy, Quintana, and Boci each had two hits for the Rams while Mecklenburg and Jordan Day were the only Lynx to grab hits in game one.

INSIDE GAME 2:

• Game two was an offensive explosion, with the Lynx setting the tone in a huge first inning. It started with three straight singles by Mahlia Medina, Megan Murphy, and Day. Day's scored Medina and sent Murphy to third, setting up the Lynx for some tricky baserunning. Day stole second with the intention of drawing a throw that allowed Murphy to break for home. Both runners ended up reaching safely and the Lynx were ahead 3-0.
• Kieran delivered a single to send Day home and was followed up by a base hit from Mecklenburg that drove in Ilana Zack. Mecklenburg attempted to reach second, drawing a throw that would retire her but allow Kieran to score. Lindsey Jensen finished the big inning with a bomb to left field for her first home run of the season.
• Suffolk cut the lead in half in the bottom of the second inning. Bianca Luciano doubled to drive in Gustafson and then scored on a home run by Quintana. Lesley got the three runs back in the fourth inning on an RBI double by Day, a throwing error by the Rams catcher, and a dropped fly ball by Brandow in centerfield. In the bottom of the inning, White began chipping away at the lead with a two-run homer.
• The Lynx grabbed three runs once again in the top of the fifth on another double by Day. This one cleared the bases, scoring Mecklenburg, Lindsey Jensen, and Medina. They would add one more in the top of the sixth on a bases loaded walk by Medina.
• The Rams put together a valiant comeback attempt over their final two innings, beginning with a Brandow homer in the bottom of the sixth. Lesley added their final runs in the top of the seventh, with Mecklenburg reaching on an error to score Kieran and Sam Jensen. The two runs proved pivotal as they put the Lynx up 15-7 before the Rams lineup woke up in their last ups.
• Zellin sent Suffolk's first run of the inning home with a double and then scored, along with Luciano, on a double by White. Brandow reached on an error by Mecklenburg in right field that allowed White and Quintana to score. Ally Ciaffaratta sent one more run home with a single, but Day was able to get a ground ball to get out of the inning and end the game.
• Day earned the win, though she allowed ten earned runs over seven innings. The Lynx cycled through five Rams pitchers, with Ella Turnbull getting the loss. At the plate, Day was outstanding, going 4-for-5 with three doubles and five runs batted in. Mecklenburg was impressive as well, going 3-for-5 and driving in three, while Kieran had three hits as well.
